WordPress search-engine optimized AutoSEO theme released

AutoSEO is now available for download. It’s in beta version, so please tell me about any bugs. I’m working on the readme file.

AutoSEO is a 3-column format, largely free of browser hacks. It has been tested in IE6, IE7, Firefox 1.5, Opera 9.02, and Netscape 8.1. I’d appreciate feedback from Mac users.

AutoSEO uses valid XHTML and CSS, and has very search-engine friendly markup based on articles I found in the WordPress Codex.

To make the theme work, you need to have UTW, Feedburner and Top 10 plugins installed and activated (see previous post).

Note that the Feedburner plugin works best by typing in both Feedburner addresses into the fields BEFORE you hit the button. In other words, the best safeguard is to type in the Comments feed first.

You will also want to “write pages” for archives, links and subscribe pages using the included page templates. There is no contact page included, so you’ll want to create one, maybe with the Subscribe ][ plugin.

Once you have a links page, go ahead and register with the blog directories included with the template, replacing the code appropriately with the code the directories give you. You’ll find the chiclets on links.php.

If there is a time difference between you and your host, you can adjust that at clock.php. Or just delete the clock from leftcolumn.php.

All the ads go to my Google and Paypal accounts, so switch those out as well. They’re there just to give you an idea of what to do with the left column — and to encourage you to make a donation, which is not required but certainly appreciated.

Download the AutoSEO theme for a free 3-column search-engine optimized WP 2.0 template.

    Why doesn’t your theme work???

    AutoSEO Stylesheet is missing.

The stylesheet is there — it’s called style.css.

What version of WP are you running?

    David,

I am a Mac user who uses Camino. I am happy to say that your theme looks great in Camino.

Excellent! I’m glad to hear it.

My apologies to anyone who is waiting on the new release of this theme — I’ve been backed up at work.

I also have a plugin coming out soon that I think you SEOers will really enjoy. (He rubs hands together menacingly…)
