Ping your blog posts for better syndication
Pinging is another off-page search-engine optimization (seo) method.
Here’s how it works — you “ping” another site when you’ve updated yours. The other site then visits yours to pick up new content, creating fresh links on their site to yours…
…so in effect, you’re causing other sites to link to you. This can help your page rank. You might even get some additional traffic before your PR changes. If your PR changes for the better, you will definitely get more blog traffic.
This is a great SEO method, and most free blogging platforms ping one or more services automatically. But you can add more in your blog admin.
Here are just a few to consider. There are many more, and if your blog is in a language other than English, check out adding some ping services exclusive to your language.
Note that many of these ping sites require registration before acknowledging any pinging you might do.

Very good advice. At the suggestion of a fellow blogger (who has very good Alexa page rank) I just signed up with pingoat.com which pings new posts automatically to several from your list and many others. It’s a free service - might be worth a look.

Hi Don,
Good advice — and thanks for stopping by.
I’ve actually used Pingoat. The only problem with it, that I can see, is that you can’t ping it…
Also, it has you pinging sites that you should submit your feed to first, like blogdigger and syndic8.
And that subject is worth an article all its own.
However, it is a great service if for some reason the blogging platform you’re using doesn’t allow you to ping. Otherwise it’s an added step.
