Melissa K Blair is dedicated to helping organizations, communities and individuals achieve social change. She has developed a deep ingrained passion for the merging of behavioural science with marketing communications strategies to ultimately create societal impact.
Melissa has a wide range of social marketing and health communications experience and has led the development and execution of print, television, online and direct advertising, as well as campaign launch and event management initiatives. Prior to her current consulting role with The Reputation Group, based in Melbourne, Australia, Melissa worked at Manifest Communications and Stephen Thomas Ltd in Toronto, Canada, where she led and managed the strategic and creative development of projects for a range of clients including Veterans Affairs Canada, Health Canada, Alberta Health Services, Canadian Cancer Society, Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Olympic Foundation amongst others. |
Melissa began her work in the social arena as Team Leader for the Leave the Pack Behind, a tobacco awareness initiative, managing a group of young-adults to execute social marketing cessation campaigns on university campuses. She learned the ins and outs of Government led initiatives through her work at the the tobacco control unit at Niagara Region Public Health and depth of commitment from commercials through her work at Mosaic Experiental Marketing. Melissa has an Honours Bachelors Degree in Community Health Sciences and Business from Brock University in St. Catharines, Canada and a Masters of Arts Degree in Health and Social Marketing from Middlesex University in London, UK
Melissa has been a keynote speaker at the various events including the World Social Marketing Conference and Leading Social Change conference hosted in Toronto in 2013 and numerous public-health forums. She worked to create and deliver a professional development workshop series in social marketing called ‘Beyond Awareness’ which provided hands-on training for industry professionals and co-led ‘Young Non-profit Professionals’ networking group.
Most recently, Melissa has become a participating member of Brock University’s Faculty of Health Sciences Department working to develop the Brock’s first-ever online Masters of Public Health course where she will be an instructor for the “Social Marketing and Health Communications” module.
